Troulos is a small resort around the beach of the area and both got their name by the tiny islet right opposite them which has the shape of a Christian Orthodox dome. The village with the impressive white sand beach is located 9 kilometres southwest of Skiathos Town in the windless southern coast. The place is ideal for families because of the crystal clear calm waters, the lifeguard staff who are on the beach on a daily basis and the variety of facilities to accommodate the needs of families with small children.
It is one of the busiest areas on the island and there are a lot of nice restaurants, taverns, snack bars and hotels just by the sea. In the water sports school found here, you can even rent motorboats to have trips to the smaller, cute and tranquil beaches around the headlands which cannot be accessed otherwise. Among the rest of the facilities offered in Troulos, there are a lot of super markets for your daily supplies, therefore you won’t need to go to Skiathos Town for shopping. To add more fun and probably give a more luxurious feel to your holidays, pool bars with pools open to public operate in Troulos. For some reason the place is particularly favoured by British people and their influence on the region is so strong that it sometimes looks like an English settlement!
For those of you who love adventures, there are well-defined walking trails to Aselinos beach or even to Mandraki area, the latter being quite far though. For the bold swimmer inside you, you could swim till the rocky cliffs of Troulonisi – the islet opposite Troulos!
If Troulos tickles your fancy, don’t hesitate and book a room in one of the accommodation options in the region. Most of them are further away from the beach to ensure you will enjoy a relaxed holiday!
